*ALSO NOTE: I have been informed that in the world of machinists there are different ways of giving pulley dimensions. A single pulley has more than one diameter depending on how it is measured.

The diameter I am giving is the overall diameter. I am giving the distance across the circle measured at its widest points. Look at the white nylon pulley shown above. In that photo where the pulley is standing upright, the diameter I am giving would be considered its height. Even so, from lot to lot, the pulley diameter we are giving can vary by plus or minus 1/16" - 1/8" due to variations in our supplier's supply chain.

We sell pulleys only for raising flags. These pulleys are not meant for raising loads or people!

Other Flagpole Parts

Light Pole Conversion IF your light pole has an outside diameter greater than 3.5", a Flagpole Top Adapter is the key to your project: A flagpole truck needs to screw into a female thread. Your light pole won't have a threaded top. This pole adapter is used to mount a truck that has a spindle threading of 1.25"NPT. The pole top adapter is tapped 1.25" NPT and is designed to slip over the top of the pole. It is secured by three set screws. Use it to convert a light pole to a flagpole.

         Installation Hint:

To do an extra bang up job, replace the set screws in your pole top adapter or cap style truck with bolts. For added security:

1) Drill holes into the top wall of your pole to line up with the set screw holes in your flag pole top adapter or cap style truck.

2) Use a tap wrench and a tap (available at a hardware store) to cut threads in those holes to match the threads of the truck or adapter's set screws. Take your set screws to the hardware store so they can match the thread size to the bolts you will need.

A pole top adapter is great for you guys doing the old classic light pole conversion. Aluminum light poles can be a great find. Usually the story is that you wind up with one for free or very little money. The tough part is, the top diameter is usually too large to accept a cap style truck. And the light pole top is never threaded to accept a threaded style truck. Well, here is the solution to your homemade flagpole problem. Light poles are a great deal compared to what a flagpole of that quality would cost. The investment in parts is well worth it to have a home made flagpole

How to convert a light pole to a flagpole:

1)Measure the OUTSIDE diameter at the top of your light pole

2)Pick an adapter that will fit down on top of it

3)Pick the corresponding truck for the adapter

Advantage over the double heavy duty truck is that the pulley has more reach. The rope will clear the pole on thicker pole top diameters.

Cast aluminum construction with a 37/8" outside diameter aluminum pulley on 1/2" stainless steel axels. This truck is designed to be used on flagpoles that have up to a 6" outside top diameter with female fitting installed. The bottom spindle has a 1.25 NPT threading and is screwed into the top of the flagpole while the top spindle is designed to accept an ornament with a spindle threading of 1/2" 13NC. The truck body rotates on 26 stainless steel ball bearings on cast races. Recommended halyard diameter is 3/8". For ease of rotation, product life and strength, these trucks utilize stainless steel sealed lubricant ball bearing assemblies. The recommended halyard diameter is 3/8".
