Nylon Outdoor Flags
State flags can be flown outdoors, displayed indoors or carried in parades. Pole hem, pole hem with fringe and plain finishing options are available in sizes up to 6×10’.
Sizes follow the same proportion rules as U.S. flags. If you’re flying a state flag alongside an American flag on equal poles, both should be the same size. The American flag goes to its own right (the observer’s left) and should fly at equal height or higher.
For government and institutional installations — municipal buildings, courthouses, schools — state flags typically fly in a specific order alongside the national flag and any other official flags. We can walk you through the proper display configuration for your specific setup.

Frequently Asked Questions About State Flags
What size state flag should I fly alongside my American flag?
Federal flag etiquette says the U.S. flag should be the same size or larger than any other flag flown on the same property. If your American flag is 3×5, your state flag should also be 3×5 — not larger. Both flags should fly at equal height, with the U.S. flag in the position of honor (its own right, which is the observer's left).
Are state flags available in nylon for outdoor use?
Yes — most of our state flags are stocked in outdoor nylon, the same material we use for American flags. Nylon holds color well, dries fast, and flies in a light breeze. For indoor display or framed presentation, we carry lighter-weight versions on request.
My state flag has a detailed seal — will it look right on an outdoor flag?
States with complex seals and crests can be tricky — fine text and intricate designs don't always reproduce cleanly at smaller sizes. Call us and we'll tell you exactly what we stock for your state and which version holds up best for your intended use.
Do you carry classroom or indoor flag sets with poles?
Yes. Classroom-sized state flags mounted on poles — sized for indoor school, library, or office display — are a consistent part of our inventory. These are framed sets, typically 12×18 or similar, and move fast in August and September when teachers are setting up for the year. If you want them in time for back-to-school, order early or call ahead.
Can I order a state flag for a state I don't see listed?
