3' x 5' Virgin Islands Flag

The flag of the United States Virgin Islands was adopted in 1921 and draws its central design from the US national seal. A white field bears a simplified version of the American bald eagle at center, holding a sprig of yellow Genip laurel in its left talon and three blue arrows in its right — the arrows representing the three principal islands of St. Croix, St. John, and St. Thomas. The letters "V" and "I" in blue flank the eagle on either side. The territorial flag is closely tied to the US national identity by design, reflecting the islands' status as an unincorporated US territory since 1917.
